Our team contributed to a newly published study in The Lancet Infectious Diseases.

We focused on examining the pharmacokinetics and cardiovascular safety of malaria chemoprevention in children with sickle cell anaemia. The results show that weekly dihydroartemisinin–piperaquine is both safe and significantly more effective in preventing malaria than the standard monthly sulfadoxine–pyrimethamine. These findings provide important evidence to guide malaria prevention strategies in this high-risk group.
