Registrar Training
This toolkit includes information, advice and resources to ensure your registrar journey in the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery is a smooth one.
The below diagram is an overview of the process undertaken to welcome you into our division as a registar. It is important to note that both GSH/UCT and the Postgraduate (PG) committee is involved in your appointment and both have separate pathways to follow:
Although all registrars have a 4-5 year service contract with GSH/RXH, they must be registered in parallel with UCT as a postgraduate student at all times while on the clinical
platform.
● NB: Re-register EVERY year.
● The MMed degree has 2 parts (which may be split into part 1A/1B and or 2A/2B depending on the discipline), which it draws from the CMSA exams, as well as a MMed minor dissertation
