Dr Careni Spencer

I am a Medical Geneticist working as a consultant at the Division of Human Genetics.

I did my undergraduate degree at Stellenbosch University and then came to UCT to complete my specialty in Medical Genetics. I received my MMED (med genet) and FCMG in 2014. Since then I have worked at genetic units in Pretoria and Johannesburg before returning to UCT again in 2018.

My passion is in clinical work and the majority of my time is spent in clinics and hospital seeing patients.

My research interests include skeletal dysplasias, connective tissue disorders and rare genetic syndrome.
