Loyiso Vuko is a Forensic Toxicologist attached to the Forensic Toxicology Unit of Western Cape’s Forensic Pathology Service (FPS) and is a joint staff member in the Division of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology at the University of Cape Town (UCT). He obtained a B.Sc. degree in Biochemistry and Microbiology from the University of Fort Hare, a B.Sc. Honours degree in Biotechnology from Rhodes University, and an M.Phil. degree in Biomedical Forensic Science from the University of Cape Town, with a research focus in post-mortem forensic toxicology. Loyiso is a member of the Toxicology Society of South Africa (TOXSA), and The International Association of Forensic Toxicologists (TIAFT).
 
Since joining the Unit in 2017, he has been involved in the development and application of analytical methods for the provision of toxicological services to the FPS. He is also involved in the development of module components, demonstration of practicals, as well as supervision of projects for the Forensic Toxicology course that forms part of the M.Phil. Biomedical Forensic Science programme offered by the Division.
