COIMBRA GROUP SHORT STAY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME FOR YOUNG RESEARCHERS
The 2020 edition of the Coimbra Group Scholarship Programme for Young African Researchers is now online and the call for applications is open: https://www.coimbra-group.eu/scholarships/sub-saharan-africa/

Deadline for applying: 31 March 2020 midnight (Brussels time).
These scholarships are for short research stays (1 to 3 months) at a number of Coimbra Group universities and are open to academic staff and researchers (preferably of doctoral/postdoctoral status) at higher education institutions in Sub-Saharan Africa. The Jagiellonian University in Krakow (Poland) offers two scholarships also to non-academic staff.

The Scholarship Programme for Young African Researchers is sponsored by the Coimbra Group of Universities which has been providing, since 2008, young researchers from universities in Sub-Saharan Africa with the opportunity to spend a short period (generally 1 to 3 months) at a Coimbra Group University to carry out part of their research there.
The main aim of this scholarship programme is to enable scholars to undertake research in which they are engaged in their home institution and to help them to establish academic and research contacts. The scholarships are financially supported by the Coimbra Group member universities participating in this programme, while the Coimbra Group Office is in charge of the administrative management of the applications.

- University of Padova (Italy)
- University of Pavia (Italy)
- University of Poitiers (France)
- University of Salamanca (Spain)
- University of Siena(Italy)
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants should be:
nationals of and current residents in a country in Sub-Saharan Africa born on or after 1 January 1975- current staff members of a university or an equivalent higher education institution in Sub-Saharan Africa
- preferably of doctoral/postdoctoral or equivalent status.
