MSc (2020-2021) and PhD (2020-2022) scholarships
Biomedical Research and Innovation Platform (BRIP)
South African Medical Research Council, Parow, Cape Town
A research collaboration between the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC) and the University of Pretoria funded by the National Research Foundation of South Africa (NRF) has made available 2-year MSc and 3-year PhD scholarships for a study entitled “Diabetes in pregnancy: The identification of epigenetic signatures”. The study aims to use DNA methylation and microRNA profiling to identify epigenetic signatures of glycaemic control and maternal and foetal health in pregnancies complicated by diabetes. The identification of novel epigenetic signatures of glycaemic control and pregnancy outcomes may facilitate tighter glucose control during pregnancy and decrease adverse pregnancy outcomes.
