Research Fellow
Dr Babalwa Tyabashe-Phume (PhD) holds a Doctoral Degree from the department of Psychiatry and Mental Health, majoring in Intellectual disability from the University of Cape Town, South Africa. She also holds Master’s Degree in Child and Family Studies (Social Work) from the University of the Western Cape, South Africa. She has worked as a clinical social worker for 8 years in the areas of mental health, intellectual and developmental disabilities, advocacy, and social justice. She has also held various research assistant and research project management positions. Babalwa is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the IDEA UCT Research Unit and an Executive committee member of the World Disability and Rehabilitation Professionals Association.
