Miss Mbali Mthembu

Mbali joined the University of Cape Town in 2017 where she obtained her BSc in Biochemistry and Genetics. She then joined the Division of Human Genetics in 2020 to pursue her BSc Med (Hons) degree and has subsequently obtained her MSc (Med) in Human Genetics in 2025. She is a member of the colorectal cancer research group, where her research focused on identifying diagnostic and prognostic blood-based biomarkers for Lynch syndrome. 

She is currently working as a research assistant in the division, assisting on various projects.

She is also a singer-songwriter and vocal coach.
