Malebo completed her Master’s degree in Genetic Counselling from UCT in 2017. She is currently completing her PhD in Genetic Counselling at UCT which explores termination of pregnancy decision-making for serious congenital abnormalities and the experiences of expectant parents and healthcare She spent some of her internship time providing genetic counselling to patients at Pietersburg Provincial Hospital in Limpopo. This experience provided her with insight into the need of genetic counselling in many South African communities and therefore as the first black genetic counsellor in South Africa, she is passionate about making genetic counselling accessible to all despite their background, creating awareness about genetic counselling and genetic conditions and giving back to the community through community engagement. Through her social media, she is trying to bridging the gap between the community and genetics.
