Indiana Van Rensburg

Indiana completed a BSc in Human Biology with Psychology at Stellenbosch University in 2019. In 2022 she graduated with a Bachelor of Medical Science Honours in Human Genetics from the University of Cape Town (UCT).  Her honours research, supervised by Dr. Lisa Roberts, investigated specific mutations underlying autosomal recessive inherited retinal disease in South African cohorts. In 2022, she began an MSc (Med), which was upgraded to a PhD in 2024. 

Her current research focuses on improving diagnosis, surveillance and counselling retinoblastoma, employing multidisciplinary approaches to generate outcomes that are both locally relevant and impactful.
