Study Protocol Development and Introduction to Biostatistics Course—Hosted by the UCT Fogarty funded HIV-associated TB Training Program (HATTP)
The course was run for 14 UCT trainees, including several fellows, via the Zoom platform.
The course facilitators were Aletta Nonyane, Jonathan Golub and Kate Shearer from Johns Hopkins University with support from Olina Ngwenya, Graeme Meintjes and Mpho Tlali from UCT.
This was a 10-week course, running from July 13th to September 14th 2021, consisting of weekly 2-hour sessions, with assignments between sessions and “office hours”. The course was aimed at students and early career researchers who are undertaking, or have a clear plan to enter, HIV-TB or HIV research and who have not yet completed formal courses in biostatistics. Attendees were introduced to analysis using ‘R”.
