Fogarty HATTP trainees benefit from international summer school experience

Four Fogarty HATTP trainees—Linda Boloko, Boitumelo Fanampe, Jasantha Odayar and Nesbert Zinyakatira—recently returned from the Graduate Summer Institute of Epidemiology and Biostatistics Summer School, which took place at Johns Hopkins University in the United States from 11 to 30 June.

The trainees undertook a wide range of challenging and intensive in-person and online courses, worked on group projects with peers from around the world, and participated in social and networking events.

“The Graduate Summer Institute offers short, intensive courses in epidemiology and biostatistics intended to develop an understanding of the principles, methodologic strategies and practical aspects of epidemiological research.”

The group returned excited and motivated to implement new ideas which arose from their training and interactions at the School.
