Dr Kara Adams

Postdoctoral Researcher

Kara Adams completed her PhD in Biological Anthropology at UCT in 2023 and her research focused on decomposition patterns in Cape Town.  She has since taken up a postdoctoral researcher position in the Pathology Department within the Division of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology. Kara's current research will focus on (i) Developing and establishing SOPs for the collection of biological material from deceased individuals at OFPI for subsequent DNA analysis, and (ii) Morphometric and genetic validation of sex estimation standards in South Africa. Kara will be working under the supervision of A/Prof Laura Heathfield within the Molecular Forensic Research Group.
