Seminar hosted by University of Cape Town, Division of Forensic Medicine.

Context:

Annually in South Africa there are many casualties and fatalities of people who suffer the effects of hypothermia, drowning and hyperthermia.

Relevance:

First responders to such medical emergencies, like paramedics, emergency health care practitioners, sport scientists, divers.  Also Forensic pathology officials who deal with fatalities of such cases.

Outcome:

Understanding the physiology of humans exposed to extreme situations of immersion and the opposite ends of temperature.
