All information related to the UCT Human Research Ethics Committee is available here.
All research within the Division of Emergency Medicine requires approval by the Human Research Ethics Committee BEFORE any research activity (including participant recruitment) may commence.
Once you have received FDRC approval of your research proposal, you may submit your proposal to HREC by following the process outlined on the FaCE DRC website (link coming soon).
Submission checklist:
- A cover letter addressed to Prof Blockman (HREC Chairperson) which includes a short paragraph outlining the study design and research aim, as well as a clear motivation for expedited review if applicable
- A cover letter to the DRC Chairperson addressing any recommendations from FDRC reviewers, and confirming that your supervisors have approved the final version of the submitted proposal
- A completed FHS013 form with your primary UCT supervisor listed as the PI. The FaCE DRC will arrange DRC and HOD signatures.
- A synopsis of your research project (FHS014), not more than 4 pages long.
- A clean copy of your DRC approved proposal (FHS015) including all appendices
Your research proposal will only be signed and submitted onwards to HREC if you submit ALL of the required documents.
All HREC forms and guidance for completing these forms are UCT HRE forms.
