The Children’s Nursing Educators Forum met online on 20 August 2025, bringing together members from 8 African countries. The meeting highlighted the Forum’s growing role as a community of practice, with members describing it as an “enriching network” where children’s nursing educators can connect, share challenges, and collaborate.

Prof. Minette Coetzee congratulated the University of Eswatini on completing the process to launch a postgraduate neonatal nursing programme, alongside plans for a postgraduate diploma in Paediatric Nursing Science.

Members reflected on the Forum’s objectives, showing strong commitment to strengthening teaching and learning in children’s nursing (100% “very interested”) and supporting curricula that prepare nurses to deliver safe, quality care (100% “very interested”). Discussions also focused on key challenges and opportunities, including the need for Afrocentric, evidence-based curricula, stronger links between theory and practice, interprofessional education, and strategies to address workload pressures while ensuring quality outcomes for students.

Next steps include identifying areas of shared interest, capturing examples of good practice, and collaborating across institutions to enhance children’s nursing education across the continent.

The Forum will reconvene on 29 October 2025.
