Need for nursing stakeholders in HRH Policy Development
Take a look at the review conducted by Natasha North, Petra Brysiewicz and Minette Coetzee investigating the existence of guidelines on the identification of nursing stakeholders as part of planning for human resources for health processes.
Nurses are the backbone of any health system, and the involvement of nursing stakeholders in planning and implementing HRH policies is essential. Yet our scoping review of over 1,000 potential sources showed that guidelines for such processes are:
- Limited (there are two) and
- Dated (published in 2009).
This lack of practical guidance means that nursing stakeholders are not being identified and involved in the crucial early stages of HRH policy development.
Looking forward, we believe there is value to be had in a practical guide to identifying and involving nursing stakeholders in HRH policy making. Like and share on our Linked In or Facebook page if you agree!
