February 2016: We were honoured to host Dr Ezereth Kabulusi and Mrs Alice Kadango for a three week educator internship. This is the first year that the new Child Nursing programmes are being delivered entirely in-country by the teams at Kamuzu College of Nursing and we were delighted to hear how well this is going. Ezereth and Alice were particularly interested to understand the way our educators use group work, case study discussions and other interactive learning approaches to engage students. We had a great exchange of experiences and it was good to have such knowledgeable colleagues observing and feeding back to us on our practices.

The team in Cape Town are missing the presence of Malawian nurses on the post graduate diploma programmes this year. But our valued links with child health in Malawi are being kept strong by the arrival of another member of the KCN team, Rose Mumbua Muheriwa, who has joined us to undertake her PhD, and by Tiya Nkhoma who is undertaking the pioneering Masters in Nursing (Child Nursing) programme.

We salute the progress that the teams in Malawi have made already to build childrens’ nursing, and applaud the vision, commitment and dedication involved.
