Intern Medical Scientist Lwando Mampunye
NHLS and UCT intern medical scientist Lwando Mampunye was selected as a semi-finalist in the Gauteng Accelerator Programme Innovation Competition 2021, in October last year. The Gauteng Accelerator Programme (GAP) in Biosciences is a unique programme that assists scientists and entrepreneurs to pursue commercially viable opportunities with their cutting-edge bioscience technologies. Run as a series of innovation competitions in the Biotechnology, Medical, ICT and Green categories, the winners will have access to part of more than R3 million seed funds that are available. The top three performers per category are selected. On the 7th of February 2022, Lwando learnt that he had been successful in becoming a finalist in the GAP Innovation Competition 2021. The award ceremony was held
