This course aims to cover the underlying principles and critical aspects of DNA diagnostic methodology and interpretation. Participants will learn the fundamentals of DNA diagnostics with significant hands-on experience in:

• DNA isolation
• Restriction enzyme analyses
• Gel electrophoresis
• PCR and primer design
• Mutation detection by sequencing (analyse traces), result analysis and interpretation
• Report writing and bioinformatics (SNP and mutation sequence retrieval from DNA databases).
