Tarryn Oschadleus
Tarryn Oschadleus graduated with a Bachelor of Technology in Cardiovascular Perfusion in 2001 and has 20+ years’ experience in Perfusion. In 2010 she was appointed as the Assistant Director of Perfusion, overseeing the service at both Groote Schuur and Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospitals. Tarryn is responsible for adult and paediatric cardiopulmonary bypass and is involved in all aspects of overseeing the Perfusion service in an academic institution. She is enthusiastic about the comprehensive teaching and training of Perfusion students in the unit and invests much of her time in this. She is committed to the department and dedicated to the unified vision of excellence in the care of all patients in cardiac surgery.

Chief Perfusionist
Siboniso Shezi
Shezi is the Chief Cardiovascular Perfusionist at Groote Schuur and Red Cross Hospitals with 10 years' experience conducting perfusion and related procedures. services. He trained in the Chris Barnard Division of Cardiac Surgery and graduated with his Bachelor of Technology: Clinical Perfusion degree in 2012. His responsibilities as co-manager include clinical service provision, supervising and training students and procuring stock for cardiac surgery.

Senior Perfusionist
Elliot Gates
Elliot obtained a Baccalaureus Societatis Scientiae degree in Nursing at the University of the Free State in 2013, in 2014 he completed his Community Service year at MUCPP Community Health Centre in Mangaung, Bloemfontein. He then completed his National Diploma in Clinical Technology at the Central University of Technology (CUT) in Bloemfontein and in 2017 and graduated with his Bachelor of Technology: Clinical Perfusion degree in 2018. He conducts cardiopulmonary bypass and related procedures (such as ECMO, cell salvage and intra-aortic balloon pump support) in adults at Groote Schuur Hospital and paediatrics at Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital. His responsibilities as a senior staff member include assisting in efficient service provision, supervising the ECMO program in the unit, training students and overseeing all technical aspects in the unit.

Nokwanda Jelle
Nokwanda graduated with her Bachelor of Technology: Clinical Perfusion, in March 2021. She conducts cardiopulmonary bypass and related procedures (such as ECMO, cell salvage and intra-aortic balloon pump support) in adults at Groote Schuur Hospital and paediatrics at Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital. Her main responsibility as a junior staff member, whilst assisting in efficient service provision, is to gain experience in her number of cases conducted.
