We have new additions to our team!
Three new PhD students have recently joined our team – Jennie, Ivan and Ruvarashe.
Jennie van Dyk obtained a Bachelor's in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology with an Honours in Pharmacology at the University of Stellenbosch in 2021. She then pursued an MPhil Clinical Pharmacology at the University of Cape Town, where she was introduced to pharmacometrics and completed her thesis in our group in 2023. Her previous work in our group involved modelling gentamicin in puppies with parvoviral enteritis and simulating the whole-wide dog population to optimize veterinary antibiotic dosing strategies. Jennie is currently working on optimizing treatment of paediatric infectious disease.
Ivan Nicholas Nkuhairwe holds a Bachelor’s in Environmental health science from Makerere University Kampala, Uganda and a Master’s in Science in Biostatistics from University of Stellenbosch. He will be working on projects focused on treatment improvement for multi-drug resistant TB.
Ruvarashe Madzime holds a BTech (Hons) degree in Biotechnology from the Harare Institute of Technology in Zimbabwe, and a MSc degree in Molecular Biology (Bioinformatics) from University of Stellenbosch. Her PhD work will include determining the efficacy of a shorter regimen of rifapentine and moxifloxacin in treating tuberculosis in children.
We are very happy to have our new team members here and give them a warm welcome!
