Updated WHO guidelines on Management of tuberculosis in children and adolescents

The World Health Organization (WHO) released the updated guidelines on Management of tuberculosis

in children and adolescents on World Tuberculosis (TB) Day, March 24th, 2022. We are proud that we could contribute to these guidelines by giving dose recommendations for a shorter intensive therapy of TB meningitis. This new regimen is sometimes called the “Cape Town Regimen” and allows treatment shortening from 12 to 6 months of treatment. 

We also contributed to the dosing tables for second-line multidrug-resistant TB where we recommended doses for children below 5 kg. The WHO consolidated guidelines can be found here and the WHO operational handbook can be found here
