Mmusetsi Mokwatsi

Mmusetsi Mokwatsi is an honorary lecturer at the CNDU, where he contributes to teaching and mentorship, particularly within the Master’s Clinical Leadership course. He is a Paediatric Advanced Practice Nurse in the Nkangala Health District in Mpumalanga, serving as part of the District Clinical Specialist Team (DCST) Paediatric Dyad.
With 15 years of experience in paediatric nursing, Mmusetsi is a highly respected clinical leader whose expertise spans neonatal care, general paediatrics and critical care. He works seamlessly across these areas, with a particular passion for caring for small and sick neonates. This passion has driven his advocacy for improved resources in district hospitals, helping to strengthen their capacity to care for vulnerable neonates. He has also championed the procurement of non-invasive ventilatory equipment in the districts where he works.
His leadership style is restorative and solutions-focused, with a strong emphasis on collaboration, positivity and practical problem-solving. He brings a clear appreciation of organisational values and the importance of understanding context in helping to shape strategies that respond to current healthcare challenges.
Outside of work, Mmusetsi enjoys playing soccer and is a proud father of three girls. He is also an active member of the Young Men’s Guild in the Methodist Church of Southern Africa, where he takes part in community initiatives to support those less fortunate.
