Alexia Joachim

Alexia is a Clinical Educator at the CNDU passionate about supporting nurses’ clinical growth and learning. She is course convenor of the Essentials of Paediatric Burns Care and Essentials of Nursing Children with Cancer / Blood Disorder Short Courses.
Alexia is a professional nurse who completed her Diploma in Nursing in 1990 at Johannesburg General Hospital in Gauteng. After qualifying, she began her career in the medical ward at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital, where she developed a deep commitment to paediatric care. Over the years, her professional experience has focused primarily on paediatric subspecialties.
In 2014, Alexia completed the International Interdisciplinary Wound Care Course through the University of Toronto in collaboration with Stellenbosch University. She has a particular interest in the dynamic care of wound management and the use of complementary therapies to support pain management and overall wellbeing in children.
Outside of work Alexia enjoys the outdoors, hiking, swimming in the sea and gardening.
