Dr Kimberly Peta

Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Dr. Kimberly Peta, a seasoned researcher in medical immunology, completed her Ph.D. in cancer research at the University of Pretoria in September 2023, focusing on the "Influence of Mesenchymal Stem Cells and 2-Methoxyestradiol in a Murine Model of Spontaneous Mammary Carcinoma". Noteworthy accomplishments include refining genotyping methods for DNA isolation and demonstrating proficiency in laboratory techniques such as cell culture, flow cytometry, and immunohistochemistry. 
Previous roles encompassed serving as a Student assistant at the University of the Free State and a Research intern at the National Health Laboratory Services. Holding a Master's degree in Human Molecular Genetics and a Bachelor's in Human Molecular Biology, Dr. Peta boasts a comprehensive academic background, complemented by extensive technical skills in molecular biology. Currently, her research in HAMLET delves into the intersection of HIV, dolutegravir, and maternal obesity.
