Are you a registered paediatric, children's nurse or critical care children’s nurse?
Are you ready to lead change and advance the health of children and their families in your country and on the continent?
Would you like to train to become a Paediatric Advanced Practice Nurse?
If yes, join us on the Master of Nursing in Child Nursing programme!
An advanced nursing practice role has been held by nurses internationally for more than 20 years and there is strong evidence for the benefit of these roles in the effectiveness and sustainability of health services. Such nurses are usually Masters-level trained, a qualification that was designed and introduced by the Children’s Nursing Development Unit in 2016, as a first in the country. Since then 23 nurses have graduated and are leading advanced nursing practice in children’s nursing across the region.
The programme is offered in collaboration with the UCT Division of Nursing and Midwifery.

Certification It is important to note that this qualification does not have a separate register in the South African Nursing Council, but career-pathing can be pursued within the national health service and parallel services, as well as independent Advanced Nursing Practice. International graduates will be provided with an academic transcript of their degree and proof of completed clinical hours and learning. This may allow them to apply for acceptance onto other appropriate national board registers. This is a SADC member state agreement. So as to preserve the workforce in neighbouring countries, international students are not permitted to work in South Africa on completion of the course.
