The Harry Crossley Children's Nursing Development Unit (CNDU) is a nurse-led teaching and scholarship unit in the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health at The University of Cape Town, situated at the Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa.
What is our WHY?
We continue to build capacity in children's nursing in Africa, supporting nurses, educators and leaders, as they strive for best outcomes for children through contextually appropriate evidence-based practice and with a commitment to unapologetic African nursing excellence.
WHAT do we do?
We sustain and build a programme of work focused around three pillars of activity:
HOW do we work?
- We partner with nurses, educators, leaders and their institutions to enhance OUR shared knowledge and practice, focusing on the unique strengths and needs, and contexts of African healthcare environments.
- We encourage enquiry and the application of evidence-based healthcare, contributing to the global body of nursing knowledge through original research, and to the design and development of innovative tool sand solutions.
- We steward our resources carefully, including grant funding, to maximise the impact of our work and ensure the sustainability of our programmes.
What are our core Unit VALUES?
Sixabisene (Valuing each other and all that we all bring to our work together) ~ Maximising individual’s contributions ~ Committing to rigour and excellence ~ Collaboration ~ Remaining accountable ~ Taking responsibility.
