The Albertina and Walter Sisulu Institute of Ageing in Africa (IAA) enjoys first-rate partnerships with several local and international organisations.
FG Lowe Village (GH Starck Centre – Rehoboth Age Exchange)
Geriatricians at the IAA conduct a monthly clinic at this site in Hanover Park, Cape Town. The NGO serves as a teaching and research site for the IAA.

Grandmothers Against Poverty and AIDS (GAPA)
The NGO GAPA, based in Khayelitsha, Cape Town, but operated in three provinces of South Africa, co-ordinates support groups for grandmothers affected by AIDS. GAPA programmes empower the women with life skills, and strengthens their ability to cope with caring for adult children and grandchildren infected with or affected by the disease. GAPA offers a research site for the IAA.

International Longevity Centre – South Africa (ILCSA)
The International Longevity Centre – South Africa (ILCSA) is a not-for-profit research, education and policy organisation focusing on challenges and opportunities of population ageing, the promotion of healthy and productive ageing, and optimisation of older persons' participation in society.
ILCSA is an inter-institutional partnership between the University of Cape Town (UCT) Albertina and Walter Institute of Ageing in Africa (IAA) and the North-West University (NWU) Optentia: Ageing and Generational Dynamics in Africa.
ILCSA is a part of the International Longevity Centre (ILC) Global Alliance, an international consortium of member organisations.
South African Women in Dialogue (SAWID)
The NGO, based in Pretoria, has an Older Persons Programme aimed at protecting and advancing the well-being of older women in South Africa. IAA staff members participate in steering group activities and undertake studies for the NGO.

African Research on Ageing Network (AFRAN)
The African Research on Ageing Network (AFRAN), co-ordinated in the Oxford Institute of Ageing, UK, develops, supports and co-ordinates research on ageing and older persons in Africa, and aims to build a critical mass of researchers in this field, as well as forge policy formation and action. IAA staff members serve in the Steering Group (Ferreira) and/or participate in several AFRAN research, training and policy development projects.

International Institute of Ageing (INIA) (United Nations – Malta)
INIA is the UN‘s focal point for ageing in developing countries, and focuses on training professionals, practitioners, policy makers and scholars working on ageing in these countries, through a variety of programmes. Dr Ferreira serves on INIA‘s Advisory Board, and IAA staff members participate in, and help to co-ordinate INIA training courses in South Africa.
