The primary focus of my research has been on investigating mental health and implementing mental health interventions is setting characterised by high adversity and among high-risk populations. My current research focuses on substance use and chronic conditions, with specific focus on HIV and treatment adherence. I have managed several cross sectional studies and intervention trials that address issues such as HIV, chil health, adolescent mental health, substance use, and community-based healtcare. I am currently the project director of Project Khanya, a R01 (NIH) funded trial designed to evaluate a peer-delivered, stepped care approach for intergrating HIV and substance use disorder services in primary care.
