Ms Andrea Amos

In this role, Andrea actively supports designated clinical units to plan and implement practice improvement as part of the Best Practice Units project. She facilitates and contributes to preparing online content for journal club for children’s nurses around Africa. She has a keen interest in using graphic recording to facilitate dialogue, as well as helping nurses to improve their practice.
Andrea is a registered critical care children’s nurse and worked in a paediatric intensive for care unit for six years at Tygerberg Hospital in Cape Town. In 2020 she obtained her Master’s in Child Nursing from the University of Cape Town and co-developed an Evidence-based Practice Guideline called ‘The Nurse’s Role in Supporting Mothers/Carers in Administering Oral Medication to their Hospitalised Children’, which has been accepted for publication in the journal Curationis.
Andrea believes that nurses are the driving force behind healthcare and necessary allies for all healthcare professionals to provide holistic care to all patients. Great outcomes cannot be achieved without nursing care.
