We welcomed three colleagues from Botswana in February. Ms Lenah Menyatso, Head of the Department of Child Nursing at the Bamalete Lutheran School of Nursing was joined by lecturer Ms Kelebonye Johane, an alumnus of the Child Nurse Practice Development Initiative. The visits that happen through our educator internship programme are an important opportunity for us to connect with colleagues who are preparing to train children’s nurses. Lenah and Kelebonye were able to spend an intensive three weeks immersed in the delivery of the PGDip children’s nursing programmes, and spent time with all the Initiative team members collaborating on ideas and learning in connection with education, teaching and research.

Ms Rita Tumotumo from the Ministry of Health in Botswana joined Lenah and Kelebonye at UCT for a week of valuable information exchange. It is wonderful to see Botswana continuing to make progress towards the goal of establishing sustainable children’s nursing training in Ramotswa.
