WHO EMRO Shares Animation Calling on Policy-Makers and Donors to Prioritise RHD
In a whiteboard animation shared today, the World Health Organization's (WHO) regional office for the Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMRO) are calling on policy-makers and donors to prioritise rheumatic heart disease (RHD) in their national health agendas, increase commitment and investment, and be leaders in giving countless children and young people the chance to live healthy, productive lives.
RHD is a preventable type of heart disease that is needlessly damaging the lives of many thousands of children and young adults in the Eastern Mediterranean Region. There is no cure for RHD. The damage is permanent. Fortunately, the tragedy of RHD can be averted altogether through primary and secondary prevention.
