CHD Awareness Week 2019
International Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) Awareness Week, which runs from the 7th to the 14th of February, is an annual event aimed at raising awareness about CHD among the public. Most people are unaware that congenital heart defects (CHDs) are the number one birth defect in the World and although treatments are available and improving, CHD remains a leading cause of death for children worldwide. By sharing experiences and providing information, we hope to raise public awareness about this life threatening condition.
Raising awareness about CHD is vital to improving the lives of children and adults living with CHD. Through early detection and diagnosis, better treatment options and research, those living with CHD will have a far better chance at living longer, healthier lives. It is our sincere hope that efforts to educate the public will ultimately result in a decrease in CHD related deaths.
Remember to wear red this international CHD day (February 14th) and watch this space for some inspiring CHD patient stories coming soon!
