World Heart Day 2018
World Heart Day 2018 was celebrated at the Red Cross Children's Hospital on Thursday, September 27th 2018 with CHDRU staff and volunteers making their way through the wards and clinics to spread some cheer whilst raising awareness about heart disease. Children and their parents were treated to apples and heart shaped cookies whilst hospital staff received heart-themed cake pops as thanks for all the hard work they do in looking after our sick children.

This year, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of South Africa's (HSFSA) message - 'for my heart, for your heart, for all our hearts' - was promoted to raise awareness about heart health and to encourage people to make a promise; as individuals to cook and eat more healthily, to do more exercise and to say no to smoking; as parents to encourage children to be more active and lead healthy lives; and as healthcare professionals to save more lives.

Join the HSFSA this Saturday at the Waterfront Amphitheatre from 5:00 PM - 7:30 PM for an interactive and informative event to raise awareness about heart disease. The event will include participation by the HSFSA mascot; Hearty as well as an energetic jump rope routine from members of the SA Jump Rope Federation.
