Skills transfer visit between University of Manchester and University of Cape Town

Associate Prof. Shaboodien hosted the zebra-fish team from the University of Manchester from July 15-19, 2024.  The visit included Dr Paul Kasher (a Researcher and Lecturer at the Geoffrey Jefferson Brain Research Centre), Ms Natasha Allen (Aquatics Manager), and Ms Daisy Flatman (PhD candidate). The aim was a skills transfer visit where Assoc. Prof. Shaboodien and her team received training in establishing a zebra-fish cardiomyopathy model through genome editing with CRISPR/Cas9 and site-directed mutagenesis. This highly productive visit is the first of many such planned visits.
