Building research capacity in Namibia is part of project of the European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP), lead by Professor Friedrich Thienemann, Professor Reto Guler and colleagues from Germany, the UK and Switzerland. It entails capacity building at the University of Namibia (UNAM) and networking young African scientists as independent researchers and future principal investigators for clinical trials in sub-Saharan Africa.

This project will create a dynamic exchange platform for professionals between our African and European partner institutes and deliver tailored capacity-building measures to:

  • help strengthen existing capacities at the University;
  • support the site in becoming an established site; and
  • support the site in becoming a well-networked participant in international Phase 3 clinical trials.
