About the CHI

The Cape Heart Institute (CHI) is a multi-disciplinary and interprofessional centre based at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. Our research activities and expertise concern cardiovascular diseases and risk factors prevalent in sub-Saharan Africa. We aim to consolidate and expand significant existing efforts to combat cardiovascular threats to health and improve prosperity in the region.

The CHI promotes the active exchange between clinical and laboratory-based science. We apply our skills, capacities and activities to a broad range of cardiovascular disciplines, ranging from essential technologies to clinical studies and public health. We believe that this way, we can turn innovations and scientific insights into clinical solutions for sub-Saharan Africa.
