The institute hosted a very successful Pregnancy and the Heart Conference
The Cape Heart Institute held a successful two-day Pregnancy and the Heart Conference which brought together an assembly of distinguished medical professionals, researchers, policymakers, and experts from across Africa and beyond. This historic occasion was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Lionel Green-Thompson and Ms Megan Marais, Director of Rarlx Life Couse Unit - Department of Health Western Cape.
The conference explored a comprehensive array of topics, ranging from the epidemiology and burden of cardiac diseases in pregnancy to the advancements in diagnostics, treatments, and multidisciplinary approaches. The conference also provided a platform for the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and success stories that have shaped maternal cardiac care within the African context.
It was indeed a very successful event and the Institute would like to thank our faculty and local and international delegates for attending the Path Africa Conference and for sharing their valuable contribution to advancing knowledge and care of heart disease in pregnancy.
