Successful congress for the Cape Heart Institute and the University of Cape Town

From the 20th - 23rd May 2023, the annual Heart Failure & World Congress on Acute Heart Failure, organised by the Heart Failure Association (HFA) and the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), took place in Prague, Czech Republic. This prestigious international congress covers the latest scientific advancements in the field of heart failure.
Charle Viljoen, a consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiology fellow at Groote Schuur Hospital, University of Cape Town, and Julian Hoevelmann, PhD student at the Cape Heart Institute, were fortunate to be selected for two out of four abstracts for the Young Investigator Award Clinical Cardiology Session. This session represents the highest-ranked abstracts submitted by young cardiologists under the age of 40.
Dr Viljoen’s abstract entitled "Using point-of-care NT-proBNP to screen for PREGnancy-related Heart Failure: the PREG-HF study“ received the Runner Up Award, and Dr. Hoevelmann’s abstract entitled "Assessment of adherence to heart failure therapy in patients with PPCM using liquid chromatography high-resolution mass spectrometry“ received the Finalist Award. The CHI would like to congratulate the two scientists for the great recognition of their work.
