Cape Heart Institute congratulates honours students Carl Belger (Cardioprotection), Tarra Petersen (Cardioprotection) and Yandiswa Mabhude (Cardiovascular Genetics) on their academic success during exceptionally challenging times.

At the ceremony on Tuesday, 29 March, graduates had an opportunity to invite up to three of their guests to watch them walk across a platform outside the Sarah Baartman Hall and have their names called out while the Vice-Chancellor and their loved ones congratulated and celebrated with them.

“It feels unreal to finally celebrate my achievement formally! A wonderful time seeing family and friends. I am so proud of everyone, and I will never forget my time at the CHI. Truly a life-changing experience that I was thankful to commemorate at graduation.” said Carl Belger.

“It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate this achievement at UCT with my fellow graduates. It's a memory that I will cherish forever!” added Tarra Petersen. “The day was all sorts of amazing, ascending the stage was the highlight for me knowing that I was not only representing myself and my immediate family but my whole entire tribe, I felt honoured and proud of how far I've come in my academic journey. I had multiple moments of reflection and felt hopeful for what the future holds.” concluded Yandiswa Mabhude.

CHI once again sends congratulations and well wishes to all students who graduated in March 2022.
