Tikur Anbessa Specialized Hospital (TASH) of Addis Ababa University’s College of Health Science has a newly built Cardiac centre funded by the Ethiopian and Dutch government for diagnosis and treatment of cardiac diseases to address a critical shortage in Ethiopia.

The Tash Programme includes 480 weeks of training for Cardiologists, Cardiothoracic Surgeons as well as Anaesthetists. The University of Cape Town was approached and eventually chosen as the training partner based on its reputation and experience in these fields. The responsibility and execution of the program were given to members of the Cape Heart Institute (CHI).

The CHI welcomes the delegation of Cardiologists, Cardiothoracic Surgeons, Anaesthetists, and ICU nurses spending time in Red Cross hospitals, Groote Schuur Hospital Cubic, and Cape Heart Institute.
