The cost of training with the APFP at UCT varies depending on your chosen (sub)specialty. As a general rule, fellows are advised to allow USD $35,000 per year for the cost of relocation, accommodation and living, as well as professional registration, tuition and exam fees.
We welcome applications from candidates who are fully funded. Options to apply for a limited number of part-funded and full scholarships with the APFP are also available.
- A self-funded fellowship is when candidates access the course through private means or with confirmed sponsorship provided by their employer, a grant-maker or other reliable source.
- A part-funded scholarship is when a successful candidate applies to the APFP for additional funding to help cover the cost of training (e.g. tuition fees).
- Full scholarships are available to a small number of successful applicants and cover the cost of professional registration, tuition and travel, as well as a monthly stipend for living costs.
NB: All candidates with external funding are required to provide evidence of a minimum financial commitment prior to admission. Applications for part-funded and full scholarships are needs-based and cannot be used to cover the cost of accompanying family members or dependents.
