VACFA receives a new grant from the Wellcome Trust
The Vaccines for Africa Initiative awarded Wellcome Trust Grant.
The Vaccines for Africa Initiative (VACFA) founded by Prof Gregory Hussey in 2009 has recently been awarded a Wellcome Trust Grant to support a project to inform the establishment of an academic-based Regional Scientific Hub (RSH) to provide sustainable scientific and technical support for Evidence-Informed Decision-Making (EIDM) on vaccines and other healthcare
Dr. Benjamin Kagina, a Research Officer & the PI for the project, is extremely excited. "Once the project is implemented, it will advance VACFA’s mission of enhancing vaccinology expertise and capacity. The use of EIDM to inform practice and policy in immunization and broader healthcare programs is a public health priority area”
Wellcome Trust, a politically and financially independent foundation, are helping to “outsmart epidemics” by co-funding vaccine development and develop research leaders within Africa.
This 8 month scoping exercise will commence on 1 October 2019. We are currently looking to employ a Social Scientists/Analyst with expertise in EIDM to be part of the project team.
