Research Facilities / Equipment
We aim to facilitate research by provision of relevant state-of-the-art technology platforms and equipment related to the teaching, training and research in the Chemical, Synthetic & Systems Biology disciplines and to forge appropriate infrastructure networks with the wider University and national communities.
Our current facilities include:
- Mass spectrometry
- Thermo Q-Exactive hybrid quadrupole-Orbitrap mass spec
- Thermo TSQ Vantage triple quadrupole mass spec
- ABSciex AB48000 MALDI ToF/ToF mass spec - HPLC (Dionex Ultimate 3500 RSnano UPLC; Proxeon Easy-LC; Dionex Ultimate 3000 nano-LC; Agilent 1200 HPLC)
- UV/VIS- and fluorescence spectrometry
- Raman spectrometry
- Isothermal titrating calorimetry
- Bacterial and eukaryotic cell culture and engineering infrastructure
- Recombinant protein expression and purification infrastructure
- Phage displayed antibody libraries
- Protein microarrayers and microarray scanners
- We also have access to two BSL3 laboratories for work with live infectious organisms, as well as to live cell imaging and confocal microscopy instrumentation.
