Through multidisciplinary, systems-oriented, quantitative molecular, mechanistic and synthetic research, we aim to make fundamental discoveries that will be relevant to the biomedical community in Africa.  More specifically, we aim:

  • To carry out interdisciplinary chemical, synthetic & systems biology research to explore the dynamic, complex cellular and molecular systems that underpin human health and disease.

  • To generate, analyze and model large-scale chemical & systems biology datasets in an integrated and iterative manner in order to understand molecular mechanisms of disease, to identify new biomarkers of disease, and to discover new therapeutic- and vaccine targets.

  • To carry out chemical biology research to identify new drug candidates for infectious and non-communicable diseases.

  • To translate research findings to improve the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of disease.
