What's ahead for academics at the Institute of Ageing: Q3 2015

World Congress on Healthy Ageing (WCHA2015)
The Second World Congress on Healthy Ageing (WCHA) with the theme “Bridging the Ageing Divide” is to be held in the Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg, South Africa on July 30 – August 2, 2015. Dr Sebastiana Kalula, Director of IAA, will participate in the panel discussion “Understanding the law and ageing, and how to protect the elderly”.
About the WCHA: It will be a global forum for internationally renowned experts, who will address healthy ageing issues in the new millennium, including the topics that were already addressed in 2012: the mind, the body, the spirit, the socio-community and the future medicine. This time, it will especially focus on how these topics apply to the African region.
South African Care Forum (SACF) workshop
Professor Jaco Hoffman, Honorary Research Fellow at IAA, will facilitate the workshop "Delving into ethics of care" convened by the South African Care Forum (SACF) in Cape Town on September 17, 2015. Dr Hoffman is a member of the forum’s board.
About the SACF: The SACF is a non-profit organisation that provides a platform for conversation and collaboration in the care sector at all levels – regionally, nationally and internationally. It provides the only known platform in South Africa where the aged-care and disability sectors come together for the greater good – to raise the bar of care in South Africa. Together, these sectors will unify efforts and energies, and develop alliances.
