Make Sense of Your Data: Join 3 Days SPSS Statistics Training for Beginners

How do you make sense of all the data you obtain during research?
Knowing basic terms and concepts in statistics and the purpose of descriptive statistics will help you understand how raw data is converted to usable information. This course is designed to introduce you to these basic terms and concepts in statistics, how to describe data along with the SPSS Statistics functions to calculate them.
 
Topics covered include:

  • Categories of descriptive data.
  • Measures of central tendency, the mean, median, mode.
  • Measures of spread-in-data, the range, interquartile-range, standard deviation and variance.
  • Interpreting the standard deviation measure using the rule-of-thumb and Chebyshev’s theorem.
  • Exploring data with graphs.

 
What will You learn?

  • Calculation and interpretation of various descriptive or summary measures of data.
  • Contingency tables, summarising the relationship between several categorical variables.
  • Summarising and comparing differences in descriptive statistics across one or more factors or categorical variables.
  • Exploring data with bar graphs, histograms, box plots, scatterplots.
  • How to report all univariate statistics.
