Dr. Julian Hoevelmann awarded Runner-Up in the Young Investigator Award at the ESC congress 2025

 Heart Failure Congress is the annual congress of the Heart Failure Association of the ESC and the 2025 edition was held in Belgrade at the Sava Centar from May 17-20, 2025. This hybrid congress covered the entire spectrum of heart failure, from prevention to diagnosis and treatment.  Its mission is to improve quality of life and longevity through better prevention, diagnosis and treatment of heart failure, including the establishment of networks for its management, education and research.

Dr. Julian Hoevelmann, a PhD candidate in Professor Karen Sliwa’s research group on Cardiac Disease in Maternity, was awarded Runner-Up in the Young Investigator Award (YIA) – Clinical Cardiology session. He presented a talk entitled, “Novel circulatory biomarkers to predict recovery in patients with peripartum cardiomyopathy.”  Also presenting on the day was Dr Julia Hahnle who presented on behalf of the THESUS investigators the abstract, “The Sub-Saharan Africa survey of heart failure (THESUS-HF II): access to care.”
