Noha Abdelgawad

PhD Student

Noha is a PhD Student and joined the Pharmacometrics Group in October 2019.

She holds a master’s degree in Pharmaceutics and a bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Helwan University in Egypt. After graduating, she worked as a pharmacokineticist in bioequivalence centres for six years.

Her research focuses on tuberculosis (TB) and the use of nonlinear mixed-effects modelling to describe the PK/PD of drugs used in TB patients.

Research Projects:

Noha is currently involved in a number of different projects including:

  • Population pharmacokinetics of rifampicin, isoniazid and pyrazinamide in hospitalised tuberculosis patients
  • Pharmacokinetics of rifampicin in children with tuberculous meningitis
  • Drug detection as a measure of medication adherence over 8-weeks of intensive phase anti-tuberculosis therapy

Research interests:

Main areas of interest include:

  • Nonlinear mixed-effects modelling to develop PK/PD models
  • Statistical analysis using R
  • Optimal designs
  • Bioequivalence
